Devel-XSCover XS and C coverage for Devel::Cover, with one command. Run in a distribution directory, xs_cover rebuilds every XS and C source with the compiler's coverage instrumentation, runs the tests under Devel::Cover so the Perl side is covered as usual, reads the counters the compiler wrote, merges them into the same coverage database, and runs cover for the report. One run, one database, one report. Devel::Cover's own gcov support reads statement counts and two-arm branches and nothing more. Devel::XSCover adds subroutine coverage for every XSUB and C function under its Perl name, keeps every arm of a switch and every condition of a compound test, merges a header's inline functions across every object that used them, leaves perl's own headers and ppport.h out, and drops the branches inside macros that nothing in the source can take. The report, Devel::Cover::Report::XSCover, is a set of self-contained pages with a dark theme: a summary with tiles, a sortable table and a filter, and a page per file with the coverage drawn beside each line and, where something is missing, a row that says what in words. It works on any Devel::Cover database: cover -report XSCover SYNOPSIS xs_cover the whole distribution xs_cover -test t/05-parse.t one test file xs_cover -plain t/31-threads.t a file run without Devel::Cover xs_cover -no_delete add a run to the database kept from the last xs_cover -keep keep the counters after the run xs_cover -report text another of Devel::Cover's reports INSTALLATION To install this module, run the following commands: perl Makefile.PL make make test make install It needs Devel::Cover, a perl of 5.20 or later, and gcc or clang with their gcov.
